About Us

Three days of theatre!

Theatre Nova Scotia coordinates the Nova Scotia High School Drama Festival each May at Dalhousie’s Fountain School of Performing Arts and other Dalhousie campus locations.  Open to students and teachers from across the province, Dramafest offers performances, workshops, master-classes, and creative opportunities for high school students over 3 days.

Theatre Nova Scotia is pleased to partner with the Educational Drama Association of Nova Scotia and Dalhousie’s Fountain School of Performing Arts to present this annual, non-competitive event bringing Nova Scotia’s professional theatre practitioners together with students and teachers for engaging and memorable opportunities.

Note:  Schools do not have to perform a show in order to participate in the festival.

Masterclasses

Each year members of the local, national or international professional theatre community lead the entire student body in these exhilarating morning sessions.  This year’s Masterclass leaders will be listed when available.

Opening Ceremonies

On the first evening, all participants gather in the Sir James Dunn Theatre for a lively ceremony to officially kick off the festival.
